Terra Optima is a professional apple growing company that cultivates several varieties of apples on 24 hectares of land. The farm has its own irrigation system and the entire surface is covered with nets, protecting the apples from hail storms.
The state gives special incentives for fruit processing, not only through the Ministry of Agriculture, said the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić. During today’s visit to the Zajecar district, he also visited the Tera optima apple orchards and talked to local farmers.
The apple harvest has begun on the largest plantation of that fruit in the south of Serbia, which is located near Sokobanja. Only the local population was hired, who saw in the investment worth two million euros of the Jokić family from Topola, which they raised and equipped for now, a reason to stay in that area below Rtnje.
SOKOBANJA (IST Media, Ivana Milovanović) Agricultural land in the municipality of Sokobanja covers almost sixty percent of the total land area and despite significant ore and tourist potentials and resources, agriculture represents half of the total income.
